The Vision and Ethos of Coore National School
Coore National School is a rural school. It is one of four schools, of Catholic persuasion, based within the Parish of Kilmurry Ibrickane. We work at forming a community composed of students, teachers, parents and management. In trying to foster this sense of community we try to live by values, where we respect the dignity of each person's background, tradition and beliefs. As a basis to facilitate this we encourage a deep respect and recognition of the dignity of each person and help students develop a healthy self-image so as to enter into dialogue with others.
Parents seek to have their own efforts in the moral and spiritual development of their children reinforced through a school ethos which is compatible with their own beliefs. Coore National School will engage in transmitting core values which are deemed essential within society and family life. The teaching of tolerance, mutual respect and sensitivity is part of the acceptable core values. As the child journeys through school he/she will be encouraged to have a love of truth, honesty, kindness, innate respect for right and wrong and a willingness towards forgiveness.
Overall the community of Coore National School will draw out and encourage a sense of beauty, which comes from God, as creator, a sense of fairness and justice shown by Jesus Christ, and a willingness to live and learn powered by the Holy Spirit. The focus and concentration of the school will be to divine a framework for each child, focusing on intellectual, emotional, physical and social aspects, found in a spiritual and moral framework.
